BP#6_2009112_Web2.0: Vuvox
video
Hello! The great clip at the start of my post here was made at http://www.vuvox.com/
This site hosts very sophisticated media mashers - they combine sound, still images, and video images into one dynamic presentation. There are three different Vuvox studios which offer different types of interaction. The one I created above was made in the Vuvox Studio, which offers mash programs already designed that just pull your pictures and sound into an artist-designed template.
The example above showcases a recent project completed by my students, where they used GarageBand to create a background track and wrote a melody on their instrument to add to their song. The Vuvox video shows photos from the project, and the audio clips are two of the students' finished products (my full video is longer and features multiple students). I think this is how I'll primarily use this tool at school, as a presentation tool for me. My students and their parents will enjoy this fun example of what we did at school. The site is completely free and offers many options. It's possible that at some point I'll invite my students to use it as well, but it is primarily helpful as a way to showcase their work and our music program.
Some of the other tools on Vuvox, besides the Studio which I’ve used, offer more options and may be better suited for a long-term project. I am looking forward to exploring these advanced tools more and brainstorming ways of using them. If nothing else, I learn over and over that my students have great ideas when I turn them lose with a new tool!

Erin, this is something I discovered through teaching video and television production. If you give them the opportunity and let them go...guiding, supporting and encouraging as they go...they do AMAZING things. And they teach you back! Great post and video!
